Abstract

Simulation of turbulent flow of a viscous compressible gas in a pre-swirl chamber of a high-pressure turbine of a gas turbine engine is considered. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations closed by the equations of the k-epsilon turbulence model with the corrections for the rotation, the curvature of stream lines, and the compressibility are used. Gas dynamical calculations are performed using a detailed model of the rotor and stator cavity, which allows one to take into account the effect of some design features on the general flow structure. The details of the computational procedure and some results of numerical simulations are discussed.
